I'm still awaiting delivery of my 2011 A3, Lava Gray, Titanium... and I've been looking for a cheap (but good) way to get mildly smoked taillights after I get the car.

has anyone had experienced with this website and/or products?
http://www.headlightarmor.com/06-11-...light-kit.aspx

The price is right, and the "light smoke (50%)" would look pretty nice on the lava gray, along with some window tinting...

and on that note...does anyone know a good comparison website/tool for choosing tint darkness? I'm trying to choose a darkness (thinking 50% on the front windows and 30% all around the back)... thoughts on that?

I got the Lamin-x taillight tints on mine. I did their darkest tint on mine, the charcoal, like the stealth smoke from headlightarmor.com which in leaves a barely perceptable red hue in bright sun, but still pretty much black. They are straight black at night when the lights are off, but neither in the day or at night do the lights seem less bright, even the reverse lights are just as bright as before the tints. The leds they have in the cars are so bright you wont even notice a difference if you tint em. I have the ice silver paint and I have 35% tints on my windows all around, and I personally think they look sick with all black windows and then the tails all black too.

I ordered a 24"x24" sheet so I could overlap all the edges and know it was all good. You have to take the tails out to do this but I preffered it this way. If you get the custom cuts like your link they will prolly have some tabs for you to hold to install, but I read a lot and people were sayin it was easy to get the tints off centered when they were just enough to cover the lights. But at least you wont have to take your lights out to install these. They weren't that hard to install even with this being my first experience with tinting, but I do have a few bubbles that should go away in a few weeks, I just did mine 3 days ago. I say go for it, not everybody will agree but its your car do what you want to do to it.

awesome...thanks for the response. Very informative.

Do you think you could post some daylight pics of your taillights and/or the tint on your windows? I'm really curious to see what your 35% looks like, and how much transparency there is during the day. I'm still trying to decide what to put on my lava gray A3...

If not, don't worry about it. Thanks for the post.

yeah I'll get some up here in the next day or two, its super cloudy in jackson today, so it just looks black, no red hue at all, but it looks just like the windows. Same at night under lights, like in a parking lot. Hopefully it will be sunny soon and I will take some

this is in straight on fully bright sun, in most situations you wouldnt be able to see this much red through, and remember this is the charcoal tint, the darkest of the three grades. The driver's side is more representative of normal conditions, and the passenger's side shows what bright sun will do

this is a cell phone pic, but you get the idea

I own all shade glass tinting in corona ca I use lamin-x it is a great product to use, plus it looks good if it is done right. The thing to remember is it is illegal so it does come off great.
So go with lamin-x

sick... thanks for the pic. I'm probably gonna go with that darkness on the tail-lights and 30% back, 50% front on the windows. I'm in CA so I gotta be a little careful about the front

yeah here in MS the window tint limit is 28% and I got 35% and I looked and looked before I tinted my tails for a law telling me not to and I couldnt find one so I said **** da police im doin it haha. But like allshade said I can always take the lamin-x off if I get a ticket so we'll see. I've had em on almost a week and I practice what most would call spirited driving so its really only a matter of time till I get to spark another conversation with mr occifer so we'll see
