I recently purchased a Black 2008 A4 2.0T S-line. Everything about it is totally sick except for the window tint. It came stock with only the UV Protection on the windows. Basically a fishbowl. I want a dark tint that would look good with the black exterior/interior. Does anyone know what the law in Texas is regarding tint limits? I have heard from some people that it is 20% all around and from others that it is 35%. I think I want something around 25%. Can anyone tell me the best kind of tint for Black on Black? Or make clear what the Texas law really is?

I live in Ohio so I'm not sure about Texas laws? You may want to call the local authorities and ask them? Here in Ohio 40% is legal which is hardly even tint IMO. I have 20% on three of my cars including the Audi which just got tinted the other day. So far I haven't had any problems ::knocking on wood:: even when I've been pulled over for other things. I also roll down the window(s) a little when I see an officer ahead if I have time to. I think 20% looks really good, espically on black vehicles but that's just my opinion. Is your interior dark or a light color? If it's light (ie: grey or tan) then that actually helps when they are looking from the outside in. It doesn't make it look quite as dark. If I could get away with it I would go 5% limo all the way around but that's just asking for a ticket around here..lol

 

in texas the tint is 35 all the way around and u cant have the windshield tinted. i on the other hand have 5% all the way around except the windshield and also in texas u can legally block ur rear window with a curtain so if u want some extra shade there ya go cuz in texas it gets freakin hot. anything else? get the double ply tint so it own fade and make sure if u get it done somewhere its warranty

i know this is an old thread, but maybe this helps. In texas u can have rear window as dark as u want, on sides only %25 . I personally live in Orlando, and i use a companty called choice window tinting, they use only the best film. Llumar window films. www.llumar.com . Actually in texas you can have any of your windows tinted as dark as u want except for the 2 front and the windshield. .

 

I used to live in Texas. The car tint can only be as dark as 25% on all side windows. But, you can go as dark as you want on the rear window only. I know in Beaumont, T.X. there is a shop called TX tint shop. I think they are a chain, so you can check. I now live in Orlando, F.L. and I use a tint guy that Classic Audi recommended called Choice Window Tinting Orlando, (321) 439-3064. You could call Troy the owner and ask him for a recommendation on the brand of tint to use. He would know. You just have to be careful, who does the window tinting on Audi's because if installed incorrectly you could have problems with computor chip or the applifyer in rear window.
