Hi folks! Planning a budget weekend road trip from NYC to Boston. Anyone done it recently and can share tips on saving money and the route?

 

I did this trip in summer. The key is to plan your overnight stays early and take snacks with you. Saves a fortune on cafés. Route-wise, New Haven is worth a quick stop, scenic and not out of the way.

 

My mates and I did a similar trip last weekend. I’d stick to the I-95 for speed, but watch out for traffic around Chelsea and Connecticut. Pack a flask and snacks, it really cuts costs. For a short stop, New Haven’s got nice parks and cheap cafés. Book budget motels ahead of time; last-minute can be pricey. Makes the trip smoother and cheaper all round.
