Default $1000 mistake trying to fix CD player

1998 A4 2.8L

So my CD player (Audi Concert) has not worked because of a loose connection for the last two years. Connection is betwen the big long cable that pops out in the trunk and between the 6 disc CD player in trunk. I finally get some time to work on it this weekend, and as I'm diagnosing it I accidently touch the blue wire from the cable that comes to the head unit unit to ground. I wish it were more dramatic, but i hear the radio cutout and now my head unit won't turn on. So, can you say PISSED the *(#$(&#(*$&#(&#(&$&**######### ###$******** OFF?????????????

Yea, it's my fault, you dumbass (me talking to myself, not you). Of course I'm know you should disconnect the battery before doing any electrical work, but come on! I've owned cars for the last 30 years and never had a radio blow up because of a slight wire touch! Check the fuses? Nothing. Which I expected, because when the wires touched there was no spark.

So, here I am, I try to fix something and I end up blowing a $1000 bucks, or whatever it is going to cost to get a new head unit andhave the mechanic install it, and you know what? I still don't have a CD player.

PISSED OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Audi radio's are dirt cheap, and would probably break on you anyway so don't worry about it.
Can't be any more than $400.

are you sure its not the fuse in the back of the radio. ive done stuff like that once or twice and it was usually just the rear fuse. if it isnt then like everyone else said just get a new audi radio, their cheap-ish.
