Try these 2 sites:
http://www.tintcenter.com/laws/
http://www.tintdude.com/laws.html
I always like to have 2 opinions. There is also a configurator somewhere that I couldn't find being that I am on the road and my Edge connection is shaky, but what you do is tell the configurator what you have and it will show you what states that setup is legal in.
Good luck,
Alex

One thing many people fail to take into account (and the Po-Po KNOW this, and use it to phugk wit people, sometimes), is that most cars come withca factory TINT of between 3%-7% 9roughly), depending on teh manuafacturer. When you go out and buy your 35% tint (for instance), based on your states (for instance) laws, and your cars windows now have a light transmission of ONLY 28% (based on a 7% factory tint. And, you're screwed, IF that wanna test your tint.
(ALL of teh above information is based on personal experience, and some polite conversations with a rather cute state trooper who let me slide on teh PROMISE that I'd go get a state inspection for my tint, and abide by the determination, which I did. {she dint have her portable test kit with her, and wasn't interested in holding me up to wait for another trooper to bring one out... It pays to be polite when you're pulled over}) Additionally, the media used to create your slap-on tint isn't exactly stable, and will darken, over time, upon exposure to... SURPRISE!!! ...the Sun. Go figure. Dropping your light transmission another %, or 2
Feel smarter?

ha thats still means he is screwed though.......but there are loopholes for this. Try getting a doctors note saying that you are sensitive to sunlight and bring it to court...yes and goto court because normally the judge will let you off a lot easier than a 250 dollar fine. If you want to risk it, you can strip off your tent and show the judge that you have already taken care of the problem and he will probably dismiss the ticket. Again getting tint put back on is a lot cheaper than $250. just my 2 cents
take it out...
show him...
avoid the fine...
then...
put it back in...
Hopefully at a closer-to-legal (taking into account the factory tint, of course) light-transmission rating...
