Just registered but been lurking for awhile. Searched but couldn't find anything to help.

I have a 2000 A4 1.8T. 5spd. AWD.

Started out as a real low moaning sound, almost sounded like an exhaust leak. Appears to be coming from left rear of car. Gets louder with road speed. Happens in all gears and in neutral. Completely stops in left turns and starts again as soon as you even out. Does not stop in a right turn. My first thought was wheel bearing, but there doesn't seem to be any play. CV, U-joint all seem to be okay. Any ideas?

 

Its the wheel bearing for sure, I was almost positive it wasnt but sure enought it was, ive replaced all 4 and no more groan sounds
