I called the dealership and they said to tow it in, worse case senario is the sludge problem. I have looked through the posts on here and it seems that this light is most common to come on on the 1.8t not the 2.7.

So i just wanted to hear a little more clarification on what the problem could be and wether i can fix it from home or not.

Im at 89k and the light came on yesterday and its due for its oil change so i went and had it changed to full synthetic today.

You might be do for a timing belt.

 

yes you are due for a timing belt but thats not going to fix your oil light. Its common for the oil pressure switch to go bad and its common for sludge problems. The best way is to put a oil pressure gauge in place of the switch and see if you have pressure. Most people dont have a gauge laying around to test with. So the next cheapest thing to do is replace the switch(probably 15 bucks). If that doesnt fix the problem then you are going to have to drop the pan and see if the oil pump pick up screen is clogged. good luck
