1.8t awm squeak from block when rotated
Short version of story:
Bought a 2001 tqm A4 for $300 with 211k miles, no start, "blown head gasket." It seems upon pulling the head and also the fact that there's no coolant that it overheated badly. Coolant overflow distorted /melted. Some valves won't close, likely because heads warped (don't look bent) . Engine was timed correctly... Among a list of other things the car needs horribly it definitely needs a head.... So I need insight on this : when I turn the block over by hand with the crank the pistons move as they should, but there's a weird little squeak sound coming from the block as it rotates. What could that be? Should I be worried? Obviously it would be ideal to pull the oil pan and check it all out but it's in my dirt driveway, apart and it's all wheel drive so I assume taking the pan off isn't easy and I feel uneasy lifting it in a dirt driveway. I have a video if someone wants to see ill text them it... Or snap chat. I'm strongly considering buying a used known good head and slapping it on... Probably have to spend about $700 on everything I've found so far so if the blocks toast and I buy all that I'll be very unhappy to say the least |
