2002 A6 3.0 transmission issues help
My 2002 A6 3.0 with 83,000 miles is having some transmission issues, sometimes when stopped on an incline it will completely slip out of gear, I will hit the gas some and it then shudders. This will also occur when I begin to back up, again completely out of gear! Then it catches and shudders. I took it to the Audi dealer and they tell me I need to replace the transmission at an estimated cost of $7500. The cars worth $10k if that?? I did get their computer read-outs of the test's which were done? It seems the entire test's which were done passed at least that’s how I read it? However, the service manager is hanging his hat on this test outcome "If the MVB 10, position 1 is above 300mA replace the transmission" mine was measured at 315mA.

Can anyone offer any advice and/or recommend a shop around San Diego for a second opinion.
Thanks

I was having the same problem with my car so I took it to at least five different places (including 2 Audi dealerships) and they all told me to get the new transmission. (Rumble at about 1400-1600 RPM, sometimes a severe stutter?) I had a third party warranty so I just waited a few weeks and cashed it in (maybe something to think about). Also don't know if this helps but while the tranny was still Fu@&ed I just kept in tiptronic and eased onto the gas when starting from a dead stop. This REALLY eased the stutter for some reason.
