2003 Allroad ISSUE!
hey guys, new to the forum, ive love audis forever and am finally going to buy one. i looked at an allroad yesterday that i loved. however, in the high end of the rpms, when you are going hard on it, it seems to skip a little bit. now im wondering if its just that the plugs need to be replaced? he said he has never replaced the plugs. he has had the car for 20000 miles, it now has 163000. he also runs low octane fuel in it...
im wondering if i run fuel injector cleaner and or seafoam in it and use premium, will this go away? i really want to buy this car, the price is right, but i dont want it to skip the way it does. its not terrible, but its not what i would want if i bought this car. i also dont want to buy it and have to dump thousands into it. i want to buy it and put about 2500 into within the next year, but id rather it not be on me replacing the pistons and cranks..
it doesnt make any weird noises other than it just cutting out a little bit when it skips.
its a 2003 allroad with 163000, 6 speed manual, fresh timing belt, water pump and clutch

No wire and plugs?? wow.. low octain to top that off
So, low octaine will cause certain engines to sputter at higher speed. Wires and plugs should have been replaced ages ago.
IF you can, take it to a trusted mechanic and do a once over. Pay for a carfax too.
I just bought a 2001 A6 Wagon with 205000KM (127000 Miles) and I had it checked over, put out a grand in small repairs and it drives amazing. Looks great too. I only paid 3K for it
When was the timing belt/chain done? Get all the history for maintance and you should beable to make a good choice.
I seafoamed my wagon the day I got it and it STUNK. you can tell there was some residue built up. I will be changing wires and plugs in the coming weeks. Wires on ebay go from 100-150 and plugs are about 7 bucks each.
Hope this helps!
