Default 2004 A4 air conditioner

Help - The air conditioner on my 2004 Audi A4 is not working! Even with the convertable top in 90+ temperatures you need air conditioning. I've changed the cabin air filter with no change. The manual refers to a air pollution filter is the same as the cabin air filter? Any ideas what might be causing this. The vehicle only has 28,000 miles on it.

You need a vagcom scan of the climate system to see if anything isnt functioning. If everything checks out and there are no leaks, you may need to add refrigerant.

Does the vagcom scan need to be done by an Audi dealer or can my local mechanic do it? My extented warranty just ran out the middle of May and I haven't found a mechanic in central Massachusetts yet that works on AUDIs.
Thanks for the info on the vagcom scan.
