2007 s8

A little backround, I bought a used 2007 s8 appeared to be in nice condition only 111000 mi on it but as all you Audi folks know this is never the ending only the beginning. I bought it to do Uber for that high class feel. Anyway did some of the basic maint. plugs, filters, oil, chipped away at the errant cel and finally got it running very nice with no issues until that is. One night in the dark clocked a massive pothole and until I got home didn't realize anything wrong until suspension compressor refused to shut off. After figuring out to disconnect battery the compressor fried. After heavy use of internet, Audi forums and Bentley peeled off the front bumper, took out head light assembly and a lot of fiddling. An S8 IS different than an A8. There is a pipe along side of the compressor that runs to the back and connects with a tee-y that is used to shut compressor off when pressure in the suspension system is correct. This is the pipe that broke under the hard hit. Found a new compressor online for a reasonable $250. What wasn't clear until later was the new compressor did not come with that pipe. After a little fabrication everything was put back together and ready for the big start up. The compressor and suspension worked but OMG the all the other crap the was lighting up. Engine light, ESP sys, ABS, all the entries on VagCon. Clearing codes did nothing. Just by chance I unplugged ECU I and II. Next turn of the key everything was beautiful and running like a charm. Moral of the story, unplug your ECU's is just like rebooting your computer. As a old PC tech the mantra was with any issue restart you PC and then we will work from there.
