2008 A4 2.0T Purchase Questions, Oil Leak
I am new to the Audi world and looked at a used private sale 2008 A4 2.0T today. The millage and price is right, only 68,000 miles. It looks like it may have been driven fairly hard judging by tire wear.
My main concern was a oil leak all over the top of the motor, looks like its been that way awhile. Oil was full so it looks like the seller knows about it (he wasn't there to show me, but his father was). From searching here it looks like a common issue with the valve cover gasket. What I am wondering is if this is something to worry about and find a different car or as long as it reflects in the price its an easy repair.
Any other comments to this car is appreciated. It would be a second car for me, replacing a 2001 V6 Passat. The Passat has been reliable and my fear is to sell a reliable car and buy something that is problematic
Thanks
Andrew

A leaking valve cover gasket is one of the easier fixes. I'd get it. Spray that engine down with Gunk Degreaser and get it CLEAN. Drive it and see where it's really leaking. Oil high on the engine generally does indicate a valve cover gasket leak.
