Default 2009 S5 Active Steering Fault

This winter my ESP fault, Adaptive Headlights, and Dynamic Steering lights came on and my steering wheel shifted counterclockwise, roughly 10 degrees. I took the car into the dealer and they want to charge me $1100 to replace the active steering module. They told me that the fault (3221 safety lock for active steering value 14) is directly listed In the TSB and that there is a repair kit (8K0-927-289) to fix the problem. When I left the dealership, after other repairs were performed, I noticed that all of the lights were off and the vehicle performned normally. After a day the lights came back on and the steering wheel shifted back 10 degrees.

I have researched the issue and have not found any postings that relate to my specific year/model of car. I have seen many posts regarding the electronic steering system that audi introduced on more recent models, but nothing for 2009's. I want to know if anyone else has ran into this issue, is there a cheaper solution, should I buy this $400 repair kit, or just bite the bullet and let the dealership take care of everything.

Very curious what you did since I currently have this issue. Any help to what you did would be appreciated.
Thanks))
