Default 2011 A6 Avant Tire Problems

Hi all. Let me preface this by saying I know nothing about cars. Ok.

I have an 2011 A6 Avant. I love the car except for one thing, the tires.

They are supposedly "all-season." They say 245/40 18 on the side. Does that mean they are 18 inches?

They seem like they are really low to the ground. I am terrified of potholes. I live in NJ, so we get rough winters and the roads get pretty beat up by the end of it. I drive swerving around them, I must look like I am drunk. I have had two blowouts from hitting potholes. I had Hondas for ten years and I never had this problem.

The tire pressure monitor goes off a lot too, maybe once every two months or so?

The tires just look like they are too flat for the car.

Any advice? I'm willing to buy new tires, any recs? I would prefer all-season...our winters aren't that bad that I need snow tires. THANKS
