2014 A6 TDI heater issues
Have a 2014 A6 TDI 3.0 that heats very poorly.
Example: Temperature @ 0 degrees outside.
Can take 15-25 miles for temp gauge to read "normal".
Tach redline is 4200 RPM, never gets to the normal of 4600 RPM
when the engine is fully warmed.
Air temp coming out of heater ducts about 115 degrees with climate control
set to HI.
Dealer tells me car heats just fine.
Tired of freezing in the winter.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Try blocking off about a 1/4 of the radiator with some cardboard to prevent so much cold air from going through it when driving. This will make the coolant stay a little hotter and increase the amount of heat coming out of the heater. Keep an eye on the engine temp gauge. If that doesn't help enough, block off a little more of the radiator (maybe about 1/3rd total area) and see how it goes. Some radiators will cool the water off TOO much in cold weather. Still keep a close eye on engine temps when doing this. Also be sure to remove the blocking material when outside temps start to rise.
