Default 26K miles....bad clutch?? huh?

I have a 2005 A4 w/ 26K miles. Just recently the clutch pedal went to the floor and the clutch cannot engage naturally. The pedal does come back up but feels sloppy (loose). Audi mech says its not the slave because it comes back up. He said theres "plastic" parts in the clutch assembly that can wear due to heat. HUH??? Why put plastic parts that can fail due to heat in the assembly??

Anyway, this is not covered by warranty and its $2600 to fix the whole clutch! I feel is a faulty part. This car is brand new, how is it not a bad part?? This is my 3rd audi. My 97 A4 (which I still own) has 170K on the first clutch. My Jeep has 156K on the first clutch. I didnt "wear it out" as he said. So now its laid up at the dealer doing nothing.

Has anyone encountered this? Please offer advice. Thanks

Cuss him out, tell him that youve had other stick cars and obviously you know how to drive so you didnt F this clutch up.

Yeah I know, I wanted to smash my phone thru the wall. Question: Would air just build up in the slave just like that? And how would that happen in a closed line?

air can get past the seals or get through the metal pipes there are a myriad of ways and some times there is no answer (it just happens) a freak leak and as far as the clutch not being covered he is 100% wrong "they have to prove you drove it hard" and if they strip it down and find no problems they have to sort it free under the warranty, you need to keep an eye on them with this so ask to be there when they remove the gearbox so you can take pictures of the clutch as they strip it down

Same exact thing that you describe happened to me, except it's not my car, It's a friends company car and the dealer quoted him $2600 to get it fixed as well. Nothing will cover it. The mech said that it broke a "clutch gear(?)" from shifting from second back to first.

The guy handed me the keys while saying "take it for a spin!" and told me that he hated the clutch and how poor it felt. I went from first to second and coasted to a stop, not even taking the car through the whole RPM range... Then it did exactly what happnened to you. I don't feel that I broke it, but it happened while I drove it so I'm responsible.

Any other info you might find while they repair it would be greatly appriciated.
