60k Service dilema

Just got my 99 A-6 2.8 back from Audi for the 60K service. The car started cutting back, occasionally, kinda hiccupping. Took it back, 20 minutes later, the service rep said that it was caused by cheap gas, use an octane booster on the current tank and pump 93 octane from now on. After 4 tanks of 93 octane it is still doing the same thing. What the H.. could be causing this?

Also I am currently shopping for rotors, pads, bigger wheels, tires, struts and Eibachs. But I want to try to maintain as smooth a ride as possible. If anyone has been through these mods please help a newbie.

Air mass

A cheap and easy test to do is to disconect the airmass meter and then drive the car this should take the ECU to base setting and then incease the power (not more than what it should be, just return it to the correct level) test works 9 out of 10 times(When you disconect the airmass meter it will cause the engine managent light to come on which can only be switched off by a computer).
I have also seen a V6 with poor running due to the plugs that were fitted in it (non audi incorect depth) has the car always been serviced by Audi? The plugs should be changed every 40,000 so they won't have been touched on the 60,000 service.

RE: Air mass

Sounds like they were just trying to get rid of you. I would take it back an demand they return the vehicle to the same condition as when it was brought in. If your ever told its because of cheap gas, ask them whey they put cheap gas in your car.
