I just bought a 96 2.8 quattro and once it came into my possesion many things started going wrong (it came from an auto auction...) 1st, there is a loud humming sound comming from under the glove when the a/c is on (I think its the blower motor). 2nd, neither of my side mirrors move. 3rd, the left blinker doesn't work even though the bulb is not blown. 4th, a few bulbs behind my guage cluster are out. And 5th, the stereo volume control seems to have a mind of its own...

- Are these problems related? or do I need to buy induvidual parts?

They dont sound related. The first one is a blower motor. The mirrors not working is probably a bad switch but also check the wires in the boot between the door and the body. With the blinker make sure you are geting voltage to the socket. Also make sure the socket isnt damaged. You may want to try swapping the bulbs from side to side. Sometimes they are blown even when they look ok. Not sure on the cluster bulbs but i think you can replace them serparatly. You have to pull the cluster thou. With the stereo volumn, does it get louder the faster you drive. Because that is normal. Or is it just all over the place? If its just wacky yourll probably need a new radio.

check your cabin air filter.. its probably never been replaced and is going to cause your blower motor to go out.. for the turn signals.. check the fuse?? make sure they are conneceted at the bulbs.. and the radio.. it might be the GALA... read the manual for clarification on that.. but the more road noise the car recognizes.. the louder the stereo gets to compensate for that.. make sense??

 

Thanks for everyones help! I am going to replace the blower motor myself but can find any instructions for my year and model. Does anyone know how to replace the motor in a 96 a4?
-- Also, when i turn my headlights on both of my turn-signal lights come on, but the one on the left wont do anything when i put the blinker on, what could this be?
