Default '96 A4 Quattro ignition system problem

I recently bought a '96 A4 Quattro 2.8 for very cheap since it wasn't running. Just a quick question for you Audi gurus out there.

I've tested the 3 distributor coils and none of the give a charge when the car is on or when I try to start it (it turns over just fine.) I tested the wires connected to the coils and every single one has power going to it when the power is on. In my experience with other cars its not likely all 3 coils went bad at the same time but could this be the case? if so I'm assuming I need to replace them all...

Thanks Dana

Does anyone know if there is any reason for all three ignition coils to go bad at the same time? specifically if the car has been sitting for a while.
