Default 96 A6 Slow Guages

My 1996 A6's coolant and oil temperature guages barely move off the peg, even after driving 60 miles. All other guages are fine. My independent mechanic gave me, yes gave me, a replace instrument cluster but to no avail. Is this a common problem? Is it a problem with temperature sensors? Thanks for any help.

In an A6 the cluster is usually not the problem, the problem with the temp gauge is probably the thermostat is stuck open causing the engine not reach operating temp, and for the oil i would check the oil pressure by removing the oil sender and installing a gauge and running the engine. It should be around 4 bar (or 60 psi)
