I have a 99 A4 2.8 Quattro and I need to replace the front bearings. Can anyone please help me by telling me the best place (cheapest) to buy the bearings and what's involved in changing them. Is this a job a shade tree mechaninc can do and are there any special tools needed? One last question, is the bearing pressed into the hub and can the job be done without a press? Any and all help on this topic will be greatly appreciated!

The fronts are a bitch. Get them changed at a shop. They shouldn't be more than 2 hours of labor per side plus the bearings for about $50.
