A4 1.8 Turbo Engine?
Hello, I'm currently looking to buy an A4 from 1997 with a 1.8 Turbo engine.
The vehicle has been taken to my dads garage and he has examined the vehicle, he think the car as it is looks very promising for the price.
It's current condition is at 200k Miles. However the engine was replaced and has now only done 120k miles. I'm wondering if it's wise for me to buy this car dispite the fact that the engine is Turbo and has allready done 120k.
It's only supposed to live for 4 years, and i have no experience with Audi engines.
I'm wondering if anyone with experience could enlighten me a little bit.
Thanks.

I have 142,xxx miles on my motor had a tune or big turbo on for the last 60k+
What I mean is if the car is maintained and compression(dry/wet) look good buy it, if not steal the head and give to me as I'm looking for an aeb head for my upcoming project.

Hey thanks for your reply,
So you would suggest that it's a relieable engine for atleast 30k miles in addition to the 120k? .. I can't know for sure if it's been maintained properly, but from the looks of it, it seems well maintained by a car enthutiast. I myself will obviously take care of it with the proper oil and coolant.
Also I'm European, so i doubt you would wanna pay the taxes my country requires, which is 180% more than American prices :P
