As many of may or may not know i am currently carless and am looking at a 97 a4 1.8t. the problem is apperantly the cat got clogged with silicone and heated up enough to cause the paint on the fender to bubble up. One of my mechanic buddies told me to satay away from it because it may have silicone in the engine block. replaceing the cat and repainting the fender is no problem but i dont want to buy a car thats gonna give me problems. any suggestions. also i found 96 a4 2.8. its got 150k mile but a new timing belt were as the 1.8t seems to run but arent exactly sure of its long term reliability.
