Default A4 Braking issue

Hi,

I just purchased an A4 and have noticed a braking issue. Appears the rotors may be slightly warped. Audi Dealer (reputable) claims the car sat for a couple of months and this is common. Recommended me driving the vehicle for a couple of weeks to determine if the issue clears.

I've never experienced or heard of such a fix.

Thoughts from the forum appreciated.

It can also be where the car may have been sitting for a while on the lot. It really doesn't take long for rust to develop on the rotors leaving a "clean" spot where the pads protected the rotor surface from rusting. This can mimic the effect of a warped rotor as the pads will grab better on the rusty surface and slip a bit more as the clean portion passes by. Driving it will clean off the this rust. I recommend driving it a bit more before replacing any parts.

Thank you for the assist, but the rotors look clean. No visible rust. I'll get back to the post with more feedback as I drive the car another week.

Sounds like a plan. However, find a place where you can get it up to 40-50mph and stab the brakes to really scrub the rotors. There may be some on the back side that you cannot see without removing the wheels and dust shields. A friend of mine let his car set for a couple of months during this past winter (he was driving his truck back and forth to work from VA to PA) and rotors rusted pretty bad on it. The first time he took it out to drive, he could barely get it to stop. Scared him to death. He took to another friend of his that owns a shop and he took the rotors off, buffed the rust off with a wire wheel on a grinder, put them back on. He took it up on the 4-lane, got it up to speed and stabbed the brakes a couple of times. Has been working fine ever since.

Ah ha. So I'm feeling less stress with the intl provided. One more week and I'll see what comes of it.

Thanks again for the intel .
