I have had an Audi A4 1.9 TDi for 7 years from new. It has just developed a 'front end' noise that is related to road speed, but not to engine revs. The noise diminishes when the wheels are turned to the left, but not to the right. The car does not pull to either side either driving normally or when braking. Could the noise be related to wheel bearings, and if so would the wheel be hot after an 80 mile drive? Neither of the front wheels were hot after such a journey, predominantly at 60/ 70 mph!
