Default A4 Overheating

first post and hoping someone can help
1998 A4 1.8t quattro
car had been overheating and mech changed coolant hose to oil cooler.
car fine for about 1 week and then the oil cooler gasket went. I replaced this - not leaking oil and i don't know if they had anything to do with each other.
the car is overheating again.
Upper Radiator hose is cold. but metal pipe on top of engine is hot. Little/No cabin heat.
I bled the system from the heater core.
thanks for all help

I would start with replacing the thermostat. Sounds like there is a coolant flow issue if one of your radiator hoses are cold.
