Default A4 safe mode

Went to start my 06 a4 avant last night and it came up "safe" where the trip meter is on the dash, anyone know how I sort this out ? thanks

I've never seen that show up on the trip meter display. Usually when power is disconnected for a while, the radio code will have to be re-entered (theft protection measure) and SAFE will appear on the radio display. Check the owners manual, if you still have it, it may have a bit of information about it.

You may have to have the key fobs reprogrammed for the car. Kind of strange that both of them would lose their coding though.
