Default A4 Symphony II - Telephone Mute?

Yesterday morning I started my car up, turn the stereo on for a little talk radio on the way to work, stereo appears to be working fine, volume is at about a mid-range....but no sound is coming out. I switched it over to CD, same problem. Cycled through the discs and several other radio stations...same problem; stereo appears to be working fine, but I'm getting no sound. Yesterday afternoon after work, I fire up the car...stereo works fine, no problems at all. This morning, I jump in the car...same problem as yesterday morning...no sound again.

I can't seem to figure out if I have an equipment problem or an operator problem with the stereo. I just bought the car a couple days ago and haven't received my owner's manual in the mail yet to figure out what all the buttons do (used car...had to order the manual from the dealership). Is there some sort of mute button that I'm accidenlty hitting? Is the stereo sensitive and doesn't like to work before 7am? Any help or advice is greatly appreciated.

not into radios myself but im sure there is a mute button on the steering wheel and only other thing I can think of is a loose connector on the radio

you also have an auto mute if you have a telephone fitted

There's no mute button on the steering wheel...plenty of other controls, but no mute button. I'm suspecting a loose connection somewhere...again assuming it's not an operator problem (which I'm not rulingout).

...no telephone either, just the cell phone in my pocket.

Could something be triggering the auto mute if the previous owner had a phone fitted?

I'm nearly positive that my muting issue is related to the telephone auto-mute on the stereo system, but I'm failing to understand what might be triggering the muting function. Has anyone dealt with similar problems and/or know what I can do to turn this muting off? My 85 mile commute gets boring without music.
