A4B5 2.8 EPC Light

2000
Audi A4 Quattro
2.8L
Lowered the car, snagged wiring for the Passenger Side Downstream O2 sensor on the pavement and wore it raw. EPC light popped. Ever since, the engine feels as if it doesn't have all of its horse power. I chopped out the bare section and spliced the wire all back together. Reset the battery and the EPC light continues to Illuminate before I ever turn the car over, after reset. Car runs and drives smooth minus the little bit of sluggishness assuming it's from the EPC issue. I've read most issues are solved with replacing/cleaning the MAF sensor and crankshaft sensor, but symptoms of those issues involve a lot of hunting idle, shutting off mid drive, no acceleration at all (I don't have any of these symptoms). Also the brake light switch, but my brake lights still work and I have no blown fuses. Prior to the EPC light, I've always had a CEL for warm up catalysts on both Bank 1 and 2. Any ideas as to why the EPC light won't clear and immediately illuminates after reset?
