A6 clutch problem

Audi A6 2.8l petrol 1997

I only just got this car and i think i know the answer to this, but here goes....

The biting point is really high (late in the travel upwards)
I checked for adjustment but i found there is none as its hydrolic. I hope its the hydrolic fluid that needs topping up and not a replacement clutch.
how / where do i check the clutch fluid?
or any other ideas apart from the almost inevitable wallet busting answer of a new clutch.
please advise, THANK YOU :)

The clutch uses the same fluid reservoir as your brake fluid. Volkswagen and Audi clutches grab high. That is just the way it is. You will know when the clutch is on its way out when it begins to start slipping. You probably do not need a new clutch. If your vehicle shifts fine and there is no hesitation in power after a shift has been completed, you are fine.

I'll have made the clutch slip badly a couple of times by pulling away aggressively (ie clutch all the way out whilst just sitting there revving and not moving, obviously I have stopped doing that now, but it doesnt slip at any point when driving normally. So im just being more sensible from now on and hoping it doesnt get any worse>

thanks for the response :)
