A6 Transmission Issue

I just bought a 2004 Audi A6 2.7T with 45,000 miles. Drove the car and everything seemed fine, carfax checked out fine on it too. I go to drive it yesterday and it was completely warmed up before I left. I put it in shift mode and when its in 1st it will shift at about 2300 rpms automatically while the other gears will stay in gear until I shift it. But when I put it in Drive it seems to hold in first like it should if I push it harder. Any ideas? Also there is sound coming from the dash when the heater is on after the car runs for a while but only happens sometimes. Anyone have this either? Thanks!

RE: A6 Transmission Issue

if its an auto why use 1-2-3? use D and the noise from the dash is probably the air con sensor fan which measures the air temps inside and out and tries to give you what you want ( is the air con on? do you need it on? ) switch it off if not and see if the noise stops;)

My car doesn't have 1-2-3, you move it over and it has the plus and minus to shift. I don't need to use that I'm just worried there might be a transmission problem. I just think its weird I've never had a car do that.

RE: A6 Transmission Issue

On a shift mode Tiptronic still applies the ECU control over rpm/shifting to prevent damages. The rpm range is wider.
2300 seems to be on the excessive side.
The ECU overrides the manual shift outside the save range.
(check your Ownerrs manual)
