My '97 Audi A4 2.8 Quattro has developed an unbelieveably annoying problem with the central locking. The problem is intermittant, but occurs more often than not.

when I try to lock or unlock the car with the remote or key( I have tried more than one key/remote, and reset the keys more than once), the buttons go up and down several times, and it takes me a few goes to open/close it. In some instances the buttons will not stay unlocked, and I have to quickly ****** the drivers door open before the button drops again(which sometimes sets the alarm off). Also, the windows start to open on occasion while it is going through this crazy lock/unlock process.

I am new to this forum, so any help would be greatly appreciated, as I know Audi would charge a small fortune just to look at it.

I can honestly say this is the single most annoying problem I have ever had with a car[:@][:@][:@]
