Anyone's TT engine turn off while driving?
Hello all,
I just picked up an 01 TT quattro 225hp and after only a day of driving the engine just shut off.
I'm going about 110kms (65miles or so) on the highway, and suddenly my gas pedal doesn't seem to work. All lights, and everything else functioned fine in the car, but no response when I got on the pedal. I pulled over to the side of the road, turned the car completely off for a second, then restarted it like nothing ever happened!
Anyone ever experience this or know what it could be?
Thanks,

Had it happen to my Opel Calibra Turbo, several years ago. If it happend again, once you start to feel it begin to hesitate... You know, start to cut out, and back in again, IMMEDIATELY pull over and pop the hood. While the car is still somewhat running, check your down-pipe, see if it glowing orange/white hot. Check under the car where the exhaust leads into the catalytic perverter. If your motor's still running, and you're experiencing what I think you are, you'll see that that piece of pipe'll be orange-hot, too. It'll look like there's something inside the pipe (it'll be hot enough to sorta see through), like a blockage. That's what it is, if it's what I think it is. Cheap/bad gas has polluted your Cat and clogged it up, choking out your motor. 5-6 tanks of premium, coupled with octane-booster should clear it up. At least, that's wha cleared mine up. There is the possibility that you have a totally different issue...
Had the same thing happen to me - the turbo light began to flash - I turned off the ESP and got control of the vehicle - guys in the TT forum thinkg its either a blown or cracked turbo line - gonna check it out tomorrow
