Audi A3 and engine management problems?
ive had an audi a3 for 11 months now, its 5 years old, low mileage. this year ive taken it into the garage 5 times with engine management problems. Anyone else own an audi and have had similar problems? its costing me a fortune! im so put off buying another audi.
The problem with dealerships is that they employ wannabe mechanics.
They think that you plug your car into a laptop, it tells you what's wrong and you change that part.
Dealerships will charge about £60 per hour for EVG7 DL46 tablet PC.
If you can find a decent garage they will read the error code from your ecu and then try to find out what is the true fault.
This will cost about £35 per hour.
5 times in 11 months is not good.
Have you any information on what the problems have been?
Audi's are a very reliable car on the whole,it sounds like the garage is not up to the job!

We don't call the Dealerships "Stealerships" over here for nothing. You can buy an OBD code reader and read the OBD codes on your own car for under $50US. However, I bought a more advanced unit that will do more than just report the fault codes.
What kind of specific problems are you having? Sometimes simple issues like a small vacuum leak or bad O2 sensor can cause a multitude of small problems that trip the Check Engine light. Simply throwing parts at the reported code will never fix it.
