Audi A4 1995 leaking water into under dashboard problem

Can anyone help? Has anyone had this problem before...

after a heavy rain fall overnight i got into my car in the morning and under the stearing i noticed water running into the cabin from the side panel behind the panels. I removed the panels and noticed that the leak was coming from the engine bay into the cabin. Looking under the bonnet all i could see was that water had stored itself in the battery bay. I managed to unblock the little drain hole to let the water run out. But this has not solved the problem of the leak into the cabin...

some how when ever i get rain water manages to get into the cabin from the engine bay. Currently i have resorted to covering the car but this is not ideal.

My main worry is that the water that leaks into the cabin is running along electrical wiring... i don't want to get faced with an electronic failure while driving because the water leak has caused a short in the wiring.

Please... need some advice on what it could be... am desperate!!!!

thanks in advance

I know I had a similar thing, I cleaned the crap from under the hood, and no more water.

Remove the trim panels around the suspected leak area and get out the garden hose. Check to make sure the air intake for the ac sytem isnt leaking water in from the battery box area.
