Audi A4 1998 1.6l with gaining power problem
My Audi in the morning has a problem of moving, takes time to react to reverse and drive gears and I have to rev it hard for it to move, But after 1 or 2 minutes of problematic drive under that condition it goes back to normal, engages all gears just fine, shifting normally, power is quite okay, Unless I switch it off for a long time, then it will start that again. Anyone who can help?

Also strong smell of gasoline from the exhaust, may be the pistons are dead? Or may be the mass airflow sensor is dead too? Or could it be the gearbox pump or may be the torque convertor, or oxygen sensor? I am confused

Pull the OBD codes from the ECU first. It could be simple sensor issue. A strong smell of gas indicates a rich running condition. The coolant temp sensor could be the culprit here. $25 part. If yours is the type that is held in with the plastic clip, get a couple of spare clips as you'll probably break the one that's on the car now. I did on mine as it was really brittle and snapped in half when I went to disengage it.
