Hopped in my car yesterday morning, drove for less than one mile...

The is a noise from the engine compartment, engine shuts down and a cruise to a stop. As I am wait for a tow truck I notice oil spill from beneath the vehicle (no visibile oils leaks under the hood).

local mechanic says that my engine is cracked and needs replacing (see picture). Called an Audi dealership and they said that can't see the motor just by removing the skid plate and it must be my oil pan that is cracked and leaking.

I know this isn't much to go on but can anyone tell if this is the engine or lower oil pan.

The engine will not turn over.
