Default Audi brakes HELP!

Just been trying to fit some new rear pads to my 2002 A4 TDI, a straight forward enough job, but for some reason the piston inside the caplier wont wind in fully!! It wound down so far but not enough to squeeze the new pads in. I tried winding it back out to then go back in but now its stuck right out and just turning but not moving anywhere, so much so i cant fit the old worn pads back in!! WTF. Anyone out there fit these before?
Thanks in advance,
Muffster.

Hi there, my friend is having the same problem, he bought aftermarket pads, which are exactly the same width as the old pads, but they dont seem to fit. He bought the special tool for replacing the piston but it doesnt seem to be winding in enough to fit the pads. Any Clues????

Hi mate,
I thought that the pistons wind all the way in but they dont. They wind in about halfway then i used a hammer to tap them the rest of the way in. You just tap back against the handbrake mechanism.
Hope this helps.
