audi check engine light code p0227
 

So i believe this is for a messed up output speed censor??? but im not sure.... any ideas anyone?????

thoughts? ideas? suggestions? are welcome!!!

As per Bentley, P0227 > Throttle Pos. Sensor -C- Circuit Low Input ,
not sure what that really means, but it's throttle position sensor getting a low input signal.

Is it a piece i need to replace??? Can i continue to drive in tip-tronic or whatever without futher damage to the car??

The car should be drivable, but your power may be off somewhat, less mileage. Probably needs a good indie mechanic, cheaper than most Audi dealerships.

if it is a throttle position malfunction then you do need that sensor.. it may be a throttle by wire system on yours... not 100 percent but i think you have to purchase the entire throttle body.. which you can purchased used.. just look around...and it would be nice to know the year and make of your car..

Good because i need to drive it. Yeah the audi place is so expensive. Know any good places in the bay area??

what is a throttle body? and my car is a 2005 audi a4

the throttle body is a mechanical device that is opened or closed by either a cable attached to the accelerator pedal or in your case an electronic motor controlled by the ecu that makes a judgement of throttle position according to a sensor on the throttle pedal. it controls the amount of air allowed into the intake. from the intake it goes into the combustion chamber where it is mixed and compressed with fuel then ignited by the spark plugs.. so.. the throttle position sensor rendering a wrong position could lead to the wrong amount of fuel demanded and could lead to the car running too rich or too lean. also the car could have choppy delivery of power.. say if the throttle reads too much air at certain positions and then clears up after higher rpms are reached.. it could glitch out and read 0% throttle and then back up to where it actually is.. which would also cause problems.. theres a lot of different ways that it can actually fail and cause poor fuel economy or poor drivability..
