Default audi fuel/air problem!

Hey guys.Im a newbe here. just got a 02 audi TT (180hp). I have a check engine light, so i took it to autozone to have it checked and they had told me it was something to do with my air/fuel. thats all they said. I would take it to a dealer but the nearest dealer is 3 hours away. Now what my car is doing is stumbling when i am on the gas. It picks up then slows down, then picks up. if anyone has had a problem similar to this i would appreciate any advice. I am thinking maybe o2 sensor or Mass Air Flow sensor but not sure. thanks for any help!

Yep. Sounds like MAF or Lambda sensor. As Beer Mod says you need VAG COM.

Could be a vacuum leak. Do a search for Steve-Hall Vag-Com.

Thanks guys for the info. i took it back to autozone and they had told me that i am missfiring in all 4 cylinders and need a new 02 sensor. Would a 02sensor cause the misfiring or is misfiring another problem? thanks

By O2 sensor I'm guessing at the lamda sensor (sorry, me no speak American ) and yes it would. But so would the MAF. At least we can rule out coil packs unless you're very unlucky.

Speaking of coil packs, it's thanks to all the American VAG owners that we got our problems sorted. If you guys hadn't shouted so loudly we would have been still taking our cars to dealers with mysterious 'I've never heard of that before Sir' problems. Funnily enough though I have noted on UK based forums an increase in coil pack related queries. Looks like the L's are giving up the ghost too...

Yes, Lambda sensor = O2 sensor...

random/multiple cylinder(s) - misfire detected, check spark plugs/plug leads/injectors/ignition coil pack/low cylinder compression/wiring ( code 16684 )

Default RE: audi fuel/air problem!

p1128 long term fuel trim bank 1 too lean, intake/exhaust leak, AIR system- hose leak.

P0300 random/multiple cylinder(s) - misfire detected, check spark plugs/plug leads/injectors/ignition coil pack/low cylinder compression/wiring ( code 16684 )

you could have air getting in by the injectors "bad seals" and do a compression test, its not the MAF that's doing its job
