1999 Audi A6 Quatro Won't Start
Hi there,
I am new to this site and need to see if someone can help me with my after battery fire 1999 Audi A6 Quattro.
So here goes.
My audi battery caught on fire. Seems the metal rods underneath the back seat touched both the negative and positive terminals and the battery caught on fire.
The fire was put out sorta of quick all things considered.
The obvious damage:
Melted Battery
Melted insulation at battery terminal on cable
Melted green and yellow vacuum lines
Melted insulation on a black wire
Repairs thus far:
New Battery 5 yr Gold from auto zone
New insulation on battery cable at terminal location
Spliced green and yellow plastic vacuum lines
Re insulated black wire and reinstalled where it came from.
Replaced EUC
Now:
The car is getting power from the battery
It turns over but sorta spits and sputters
It won't start
Fuel pump seems to be working (we can hear it working when our ear is on it, back seat burned up so everything is very exposed.)
Fuel is getting to the engine
The spark plugs seem to be getting power.
What else could have been damaged by this incident and what do you think I need to do in order to get it running again.
BTW it ran great before the fire. Thanks in advance. Metal Man if you read this I meant to thank you in advance also but didn't get it in my message to you before I hit send..(sorry, thanks to anyone who can help with this.)
It now seems it could be the fuel injectors. Did I blow a relay? Everything did sort of blow up when the battery overloaded and burst into flames.
Respectfully,
LiAnne
