Automatic Tranny Shifts Funny
In my 98 A4 2.8L Quattro, the auto transmission seems to shift funny especially 3 > 4, 4 > 5, and 5 > 4. When these shifts occur under light loading, the engine briefly revs up about 100-200 RPM before shifting. Under heavy loading, the shifts seem normal. What could be at issue here?
Also, how do you check the auto transmission fluid level? I just bought the car and don't have an owner's manual yet. Thanks, Spoke |

I would just have the fluid changed and see if that helps since it has probably been a while since it has been replaced if ever.

RE: Automatic Tranny Shifts Funny
Thanks for the advice. I think I'll get the fluid changed. Is this an Audi dealer thing or can someone like Aamco do the service? Someone on TV has been advertising a tranny power flush. Would the power flush blow up the tranny or anything dumb? You never know with Audi's...:D Can this service be done at home or is this a "professionals only" type of job?

So who should I take the car to for tranny fluid change?
Audi Dealer? Aamco? DIY in my garage? Thanks, Spoke |
RE: Automatic Tranny Shifts Funny
Have someone that knows Audis do it. Requires special fluid
and must be filled at 104 degrees F. |
