B5 2.8 brakes

I have a 99 A4 2.8 quattro, could anyone tell me what type of brake fluid I use? Stupid question I know, but my buddy with a vr6 jetta swears up and down it takes DOT 5.

uh no, dot 5 is a silicate type fluid used in motorcycles, its Dot 4
