Default B6 1.8 quattro and forge splitter

Hey guys, I'm new to the forum and new to being an Audi owner. I recently bought a 2002 Audi A4 1.8t Quattro, after having wanted one for several years. I've done some research on specific products that I want to install on it, and the first one I purchased was the Forge Splitter valve.

There in lies the problem. I've read that you can simply remove the stock valve and insert the splitter and bingo. Well, when I did that and started running the engine, I noticed a large amount of white smoke starting to pour from my exhaust. Needless to say, it scared the **** out of me and I immediately turned off my engine and reinstalled the stock dv. Where did I go wrong? I've searched pretty far to try and find a detailed installation for the quattro even some pictures, but to no avail.

If anyone can give me some sort of advice it would be greatly appreciated. I'm trying to keep this a DIY kind of deal, but I'm almost tempted to take it to a shop.

Maybe you installed it the wrong way because this valve requires installing the opposite way to the original Bosch Valve. i.e. the side pipe is fitted into the Turbo Intake Hose and the base pipe connects to the hose that runs to the boost side of the turbo.

Here's the link to the install manual :

Thanks for the response. I think I'm just a very amateur mechanic and actually plugged the wrong hoses up to this valve. From the picture on that link you gave me, it looks like what I think is the vacuum line is hooked up to the top of the valve? Is this correct? If so, I'm positive that's where I went wrong.

When you put the stock back on it didnt smoke? Not sure how it would smoke no matter how you had it hooked up. There should be a vacuum line on the stock one and only one place to hook it up on the forge one. GL

It did smoke for a while after I put the stock dv back on. The smoke went away after about 20-30 minutes of letting it run at idle and revving the engine up a little. I'm very confused about where I'm going wrong with this ordeal. I was hoping it would be a simple installation but it's turning out not to be.
