What is your location? Perhaps someone else here can point to a reputable shop instead of the hacks you've been afflicted with. It certainly does sound like the first shop intentionally sabotaged some items. More than likely just left things unplugged on the engine. Running the engine without the oil filler cap will cause the engine to run lean because it's basically a huge vacuum leak with the PCV (Positive Crankcase Ventilation) systems on most newer engines. Yes, it'll spit oil everywhere....

Truth be know, half of the stuff they replaced probably didn't need to replace. All 6 coils? Those things don't need to be replaced unless you get a code for one. I've only replaced 2 of the 8 on my A8 with 220K miles on it. All that probably needed to be done from the beginning was to get a new oil cap and run some Sea Foam in the gas to help clean the carbon build up in the intake ports of the heads and pistons. Once you got the oil cap on, the vacuum leak would have been fixed and the thing should have run fine. The smoke was from the excess oil vapor being pulled into the intake. There will probably some some oil in the intake that will slowly be ingested by the engine but even under normal circumstances, there is always a bit oil pooled in the bottom of the intake due the PCV system.

The throttle body will probably need to be "adapted" to the ECU. A good reputable German Car shop can do this. The could be some of the issue.

Anyway, hopefully someone in that area can chime in soon with a recommendation of a shop. This is one of the primary reasons I do all of my work on my cars. I work in IT during the day but grew up wrenching at my Dad's shop and have had Porsche and Audi cars for 25 years now. The newer stuff is just scary complicated so I tend to stay with the pre-2005 cars.

I just watched a video on changing the headlight bulb. Im just going to try that myself before someone tries to sell me $1000 worth of parts. I appreciate the input. Do you think I should try some SeaFoam if I already tried the Lucas Fuel Injector Cleaner? Would you put it in the gas tank AND oil? If you wouldn't mind, could you tell me a little more about the throttle body needing to be adapted? The car seemed to start running funny as the battery died. I don't know if that's relevant.

The car starts really rough and im afraid when the winter comes it wont start at all. I'll ask a local shop about adapting the throttle to the ECU. You really think that will help with all those error codes? I just want to make sure you read all that. I had a dream I had a Porsche so I would like to get one one day. I'll make sure the EMS bearing has been replaced

I don't know much about cars but I'm trying to learn. I would like to go to school for it one day.

To adapt the throttle body to the ECU the shop (or yourself) will need a VAG-COM device. I'd let a shop do it though. I've never had to do one so I can't tell you exactly how it's done. I need to get me a VAG-COM set up though. There is emulation software you can buy that allows you to use your laptop and a USB adapter cable to connect to the cars OBD system.

Since you're running the Lucas stuff through it, I think you'll be ok. I just like the Sea Foam stuff since I've used it with pretty good results in the past.

Anyway, find a reputable shop locally that can sort that thing out. Working on these cars is not for beginners as it can get expensive if you mess something up.
