Default Bearing like noise but bearings are new

I just got 2 of the bearings replaced in my 2001 Audi A4 1.8t Quattro (Something I've had to do on at lease 1 wheel EVERY OTHER YEAR since I got the car but I guess that's another story lol). I drove the car home and don't you know I start hearing a noise that sounds like a bad bearing but much more quite.(still loud enough to annoy) It gets louder and faster at high speeds and lower and slower when decreasing speed. (but still overall not as loud as a bad bearing)

While looking over my car to fix the bearings my mechanic checked the breaks too because my break light was on. He told me that my break pads were all fine but my rear rotors were starting to pit and rust but that they were in safe working condition and would pass inspection. He said no reason to replace them just yet.

When I called back today, after returning home from the mechanics and hearing the noise, he said the bearing like noise I was hearing was probably the rotors. I was hoping I could get a few people here to chime in on this and say if they agree with him or not and if not what they think may be the problem.

I know it's mostly speculation when you haven't drove or looked at the car so I will take all answers with a grain of salt. Thank you in advance to everyone kind enough to stop in and help me out

How are your tires wearing on your vehicle? Tires with uneven wear that are cupping will create the same noise and mislead you to think that it is the wheel bearings.
