Default Brake Grinding - Very stressed out...

Hi, I just have a few questions and any help is deeply appreciated, i'm very stressed out over this whole thing and i'm looking for someone to help...

I lost my license for a whole winter, this year, and didn't drive my car at all. It sat and I started it every now and then to make sure it still ran, and it does, fine. I went to drive my car when I got my license back, and the brakes make grinding sounds. It seems like it comes more from one tire (front right) than others. I was told it could just be rusty brake pads/rotors, or I might need new brake pads. I drove it for about a month like this, because sometimes its bad and sometimes it can barely make any noise at all. In the rain it makes the most noise. I took a look at the pads, and it still has a little pad left, doesn't look too bad... It seems like the front right tire (problem tire) gets like metal/rust shavings all over the tire, I just hope I don't need a new rotor.

Let me know what you guys think, obviously it's going into the shop hopefully tomorrow but i'd like to know what i'm looking at. I was told that rust takes a while to come completely off the tires, but in this case it seems like it's something else. It doesn't make noise if i'm going fast and use the breaks, but makes noise under 20mph.

edit: I have a 2001 Audi A6 2.7t quattro.

pads and rotors really aren't too terribly expensive (comparatively speaking)

I would suspect getting them replaced would take care of your issues

or possibly not

Default grinding

It's been a common problem on 2.7 HP2 girling brakes for the master cylinder to stick causing brake drag,
you will need to replace the pads and rotors as well the master cylinder and renew the brake fluid
