Brake lights gone
Looking for help for my stepson's 1990 100 Quattro. He is a better mechanic than I am, so he is doing the work.
This is a used vehicle he bought a month ago. No problems until yesterday when he had a problem with his brakes. One of the calipers appeared to stick and things smoked up for a short bit before he stopped. He got it released, but now finds that he has no brake lights. If they are not related, it's quite a coincidence.
As all lights went out at the same time and the fuse is good, we looked first at the brake switch. In testing the line at the fuse box, he says there is power going through. But at the switch (going in and out?), nothing.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.
John

RE: Brake lights gone
I'm thinking it's a coincidence. No way a siezed caliper cud cause a swicth to go bad. WHich is what I think you have. Have your son run a jumper across the switch and see if they lite up. If so, it's the switch. If not, next guess would be bad connection either out of teh fuse box or into the switch...
