Can Anyone Help With an A3 1.6 2000 Unresponsive
Hi and thanks for reading this, hope someone can help.
I have a 1.6 a3 yr 2000
Had a hole in flexipipe which got worse, the revs then started bouncing while idle and sometime would bounce so low it would cut out. If i was driving on motorway, the car would hiccup, hold back for a split second, revs bounce and it would drive like it was in limp mode, but no engine management light or message on display. If that happened on motorway i could turn car off and on and bump start it. When i did this, 9 times out of 10 it would be fine after I bumped it. Like it cleared a fault.
Had new front exhaust fitted, revs dont bounce anymore. That problem was solved.
If i start car in morning, i can drive for about 5 mins and the car is fine. After 5 mins, the car will either cut out if im stationary and revs on idle, when i try to start it it eventually starts but is very unresponsive and holds back when i put foot down. sound from car is very muffled when i put foot down and try to speed up, or if i am moving, the car does the hiccup thing again and then becomes unresponsive and slow up hills. It feels like something is trying to pull car in opposite direction when i put foot down.
When i had exhaust fitted, mechanic said there was no lambda sensor into front exhaust ???? Is this right?
Would really appriciate it if anyone has any ideas, i have tried to explain it best i could.
